Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on February 16, 2008, 08:56PM Yes. They sang in Riverdance together I believe. I have their version of Lift The Wings on my phone.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Conchobar on February 16, 2008, 09:02PM Where can I find that?
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on February 16, 2008, 11:53PM I got it from the Sprint music store. If I'm not mistaken I believe you can get it on the 10th Anniversary of Riverdance CD. I've seen a copy of it at Borders. Atleast I think that is who sings it on there.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Kimberly AJ on February 17, 2008, 07:13AM Now, I think he has a good personality.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Conchobar on February 17, 2008, 07:44AM Kim, I believe you are right.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: KiernanKate on February 17, 2008, 11:09AM I just went to his myspace..... and I don't think I've ever reacted to anyone's voice like that before.....
I just about cried it was so beautiful, and the words he was singing..... WOW! Ten Years is definitely my favorite! Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on February 17, 2008, 01:06PM He just added the bottom 2 songs the other day and I'm really glad he did. Although I'm not sure which one I like the best. I wish I could order his CD, but the link on his website won't work.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Trouble on February 20, 2008, 01:57PM I love his version of Spanish Lady. :D I think he maybe my favorite.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Mel on February 26, 2008, 06:45PM Yea, I went to his site earlier tonight for a Friend Request, and wasn't paying attention while it loaded. Then I am looking over here, and I hear the music that sounded awful familar, then heard him singing...I was like...WHOA...a guy is singing it ;D
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Mel on February 26, 2008, 06:47PM Didn't you notice Brian has been on Lynn's friend list? I noticed that a long time ago, just didn't know who he was till lately ;D
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on February 26, 2008, 07:05PM Yes. I saw that back around November and started listening to him back then. One of the great things about MySpace is the Artist pages. Did you listen to any of his other songs?
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Mel on February 27, 2008, 05:05AM Just the Spanish Lady one, since I am on Dial up, the music files on MySpace don't work well, the stop and start too much. I have to wait till the weekend and Panera... ;)
Yes, I know, I COULD break down and get hi speed, but then I wouldn't have a good excuse to go to Panera and sit for 4 hrs ;D ;D Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on February 27, 2008, 07:33AM 4 hrs? You can listen to lots of music in that time!
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Mel on February 27, 2008, 08:13AM well I watch all the videos, You Tube etc, plus I work on wallpaper/banners now :D. Till my shows, then its my Thinking place for Reviews ;)
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Maggie on February 29, 2008, 05:21AM Here is Brian's Dad, Sean Dunphy, who also has a great voice, singing the ballad of Michael Collins -
it kept cutting out on my computer but that may be just me - Bob I know you will enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFlIm69xMZU and another Rebel song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvVytx-7bLo Here is one of Sean's CDs on Rego: (Brian, ye don't mind giving the auld man a plug, sure ye don't? :D) (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/411NAY33Y1L._SL500_AA240_.jpg) Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Western_Rose on March 01, 2008, 07:15PM Yes. Oh then I guess he's that mysterious guy in this picture (http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd102/Newjourneygalleries/07b.jpg) Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Conchobar on March 01, 2008, 10:08PM Great find Maggie! As you well know I do have a soft spot for the "Big Fella". Also I'm sure Brian will be thrilled to share this thread with his father.
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on March 04, 2008, 02:34PM Yes. They sang in Riverdance together I believe. I have their version of Lift The Wings on my phone. Oh then I guess he's that mysterious guy in this picture (http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd102/Newjourneygalleries/07b.jpg) Yes, that is Brian. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Maggie on April 24, 2008, 04:44AM If Brian reads this:
David Keane (son of Vinny) would love to hear from you when ye have time. I have his contact info if you want to send me a pm. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: zankoku on April 24, 2008, 07:51AM I still love the rebel songs
jim Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Weltbild on May 14, 2008, 12:10PM I found out yesterday that Brian had added a new song on his MySpace site. It is called "God be with those days". As Brian said in his blog - Darren and he had written that song some time ago. I like it very much...

Norma Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: saibhir on May 20, 2008, 12:37PM Did you know that Brian Dunphy's father, Sean, represented Ireland in the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest singing 'If I Could Choose' by Michael Coffey & Wesley Burrowes?
The event was held in Vienna, the beautiful capital city of Austria and was won by 'Puppet On A String' written by Phil Coulter and sung by Sandie Shaw for Great Britain. You can watch Sean's performance here: http://www.allkindsofeverything.ie/videos/I1967.wmv (http://www.allkindsofeverything.ie/videos/I1967.wmv) There's a magazine cover from 1967 featuring Sean Dunphy here: http://www.irishshowbands.net/spotlight67.htm (http://www.irishshowbands.net/spotlight67.htm) Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Maggie on May 20, 2008, 04:51PM I still love the rebel songs jim Don't look for THKs to sing any..... Not the hard core ones anyway. They might sing one or two of the softer ones with only a veiled reference to the Troubles. But you'll never hear them sing "Kevin Barry" or "Come out yer black and tans". Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: saibhir on May 23, 2008, 10:28AM Time to wrap up those old rebel songs and pack them away. Thankfully, one of the results of the Good Friday agreement is that hate has been dissipated and we are getting on with 'getting on with' rather than hating as many of those rebel songs encourage.
They had their time - it's over. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Conchobar on May 23, 2008, 04:06PM Great finds Saibhir!!
You can certainly see where Brian gets his talent from. One of the wonderful things about Irish culture is that music and family seem to be ever present. In families like the Dunphy's gatherings must have been much anticipated events. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: timi on July 18, 2008, 09:58PM I did not notice if anyone posted how to get Brian's Timeless CD. You have to request it from him. I wrote to him on his myspace and received it about 2 weeks ago. It is in the CD player in the car (along with THK, and two of Darren's CDs - Live & Learn and Roadworks).
When Shannon heard Phil the Fluter, she said "Hey thats a High Kings song...he can't sing that". I showed her the CD cover and she said "He is a High Kings...he can sing it then" That, needless to say, his her favorite song. I still have not decided...there are several that make me cry when I hear them. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Conchobar on July 26, 2008, 09:16PM Great info timi!!
The fact that you named your daughter Shannon speaks volumes. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: timi on July 27, 2008, 09:56PM Well, she was named for the river. And then there is Sean (he is 6yrs old). They are both redheads like their mum.
Still have not decided which song is my favorite. Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: nbrock on July 28, 2008, 08:16AM I've searched everywhere for this CD...never thought of asking Brian directly?? ::)
Thanks for the tip Timi! I'll be playing mine soon! Norma Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: timi on July 28, 2008, 01:02PM You will love it!!!! ;D
Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Maggie on July 31, 2008, 05:51AM Here is a photo from the old days of the Riverdance Chorus. The guy in the middle, 5th from the left, is Brian Dunphy. The lady on the far right is Ann Myler, the lady to whom he is now married. (http://www.celticcafe.com/archive/Music/Londra/images/singerslagan.jpg) Ann was also in the CW chorus at Slane Castle, and in the Christmas Celebration DVD. When Lisa sings "Green the whole year round" and gets to the line "the leaves of gold come tumbling down" you can see Ann to the left of her, with the blonde hair. She was a member of Anúna, and more recently in a group called "Girl Talk". Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: Maggie on July 31, 2008, 06:01AM Here is another photo in which you can see Brian (on the right) playing the part of his father Séan
in the Musical Show "Dance Halls Qs & Hucklebuck Shoes". (Oh he's probably going to hate me for this!) : (http://www.eofeasa.ie/goodgigs/hucklebuck/images/hucklebuck_W300.png) I previously said the lady in the pic was Brian's wife Ann, but it's Claudine Day. (wrong info on the photo) Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: nbrock on July 31, 2008, 07:16AM Thanks Maggie. I've been wanting someone to confirm that Brian's wife Ann is one & the same Ann in the CW Chorus. I should have just asked you! And, Brian couldnt possibly hate you...what a great resource you are!
Norma Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: timi on July 31, 2008, 08:00PM Great photos and info!!!
Thanks Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: micanchepe on September 06, 2008, 05:34PM I got it from the Sprint music store. If I'm not mistaken I believe you can get it on the 10th Anniversary of Riverdance CD. I've seen a copy of it at Borders. Atleast I think that is who sings it on there. Is it the same song that Lisa kelly sings??? Title: Re: Brian Dunphy Post by: 07-sara on September 06, 2008, 06:05PM For the most part yes. Lisa's version is a little longer, the instrumentation is a little different, and it's a duet between Brian and Lynn versus solo with Lisa.
