The birth of this fine young Tipperary man was announced on Television, on the David Frost Show, on March 11 1970. Tom's new baby was also announced, also Paddy's forthcoming baby.
The birth announcements were followed up with a great rendition by all four Clancy Brothers of "I'll tell me ma".

Great video Maggie, thanks for sharing.  I wonder if it makes Finbarr blush!

I don't think there's much that would make him blush!  Wink

Maybe he'll be a blushing bridegroom in a few weeks......THAT will be a great party! Cheesy

I considered putting this historic clip under "Celtic Culture" as it is definitely part of Irish Musical History and Heritage.

However, I decided to put it on here for two reasons:

1) As a tribute to Finbarr and his great Tipperary family, with deepest respect from a long-time fan. My Dad loved them too....
This is his personal heritage. He must be very proud of his Dad, and of course his 3 Uncles, who came to the USA intending to be actors, and eventually became one of the best known and loved Groups in Irish Music, in the USA, Ireland and Europe.
2) Because there were not many entries on this page!  Cheesy

This gives a summary of the story of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.
They sing some of their most famous numbers, including a few rousing Rebel songs:
(Rebel Songs have fallen out of favour now, but are undeniably a part of History and some of the best tunes)

And here is Finbarr's Daddy, Bobby Clancy, leading his brothers Pat and Tom, and their nephew Robbie O'Connell in "The Parting Glass":

Well, that little town will be hopping tonight and all weekend!
All together now:
"Step we gaily on we go, heel for heel and toe for toe,
Arm in arm and row on row,
....ALL FOR FINBARR'S WEDDING!"

Finbarr and Gráinne,
May God be with you and Bless you
May you see your children's children
May you be poor in misfortunes and rich in Blessings
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward

I'm updating a link I gave earlier in reply #4, because it is no longer on YouTube.

It was about the Clancy Brothers.....Finbarr's daddy Bobby Clancy, his uncles Paddy, Tom and Liam Clancy,
and of course the legendary Tommy Makem.
Below are links to the 7-part Story of the Clancy Brothers, all of it worth watching
as you will learn much about Irish Music and the most famous Group ever to come out of Ireland.
Their ballads tell the story of Ireland's tragic past, the resilience and enduring humour of it's people.

This is not a fairy story where they become rich and famous and live happily ever after.
They had bad times, break-ups, reunions, tragedies.....but the legend of the Clancys lives on.

The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem found fame in the USA, but always returned to their roots.
Here you will learn all about the roots of Finbarr, and where his incredible talent comes from.
The Clancy Brothers started life in beautiful Tipperary...
