http://www.independent.ie/national-news/finbar-wanted-son-to-be--highflyer-not-high-king-1475225.htmlLegendary folk musician Finbar Furey loved life on the road, but when his own toddler son failed to recognise him on his return home it broke his heart.
So when Martin Furey told his father he longed for a career in show business, the veteran singer tried to convince him to become a lawyer.
Years later, as The High Kings perform sell-out gigs across the US, Martin praises his father for letting him follow his dream and says he has found the perfect balance between work and family life.
He said: "My father wanted me to be a pilot or a barrister. He was cautious about me going into the business. He was very young when I was born and spent a lot of time working away from home.
I am so glad that he is a High King.
