... Danica Patrick who had a horrific wreck on the back strait, hitting the wall at almost 180mph! She was OK despite the severity of the impact.

Man! What a hit! Glad Danica's OK but I wonder if she has two shinners today.  Shocked

Looks like she instictively attempted to drive the car out of the slide so didn't scrub off much speed at all. A few years ago a hit like that could easily have been a fatality. Kudos to NASCAR and the cooperators for many safety improvements- most of all "Safer Barriers". You can clearly see the barrier working in the slow-mo videos (their all over Youtube.)

WOW! That was wild. Rookie John King wins the race. But man, Joey Culter went for a ride right into the grandstand catch fence! Glad he was ok and no fans were injured!

Considering how hard that hit to the catch fence was it held up well! Glad they replace those old ones they had back in 09!

Well we had another wild one today. Man the end of the Nationwide race came down to who could miss the big wreck coming off of turn 4. Relatively unknown driver, James Buscher managed to squeak by the leaders who all waded up in turn 4. I wonder how the 500's gonna go tomorrow. I hope they can manage to cross the finish line...

Danica didn't fair too well today ether. She was wrecked by her teammate early on.

Dang!  Tony had that race till everybody squeezed up.  Oh, well -- Dale's record survives another challenge.
I expect tomorrow's 500 to be another wreckfest just like the Capmping World and the Nationwide races, and the driver who finishes in front will be the survivor as much as the winner.  My prediction:  if Regan Smith is still running with 10 laps left, I expect that he and whoever he's paired-up with (lately, it's been Kurt Busch) will be a threat to win.  Good luck to all the drivers; I hope nobody gets hurt.

...I expect tomorrow's 500 to be another wreckfest just like the Capmping World and the Nationwide races...

Tonight one of the anchors on Speed said that of the 75 cars that have started a race in the last couple of days 69 have received crash damage.  Tongue

...and the driver who finishes in front will be the survivor as much as the winner...

Maybe even NASCAR #26 Tony Raines?  Cheesy

 Shocked

I knew pushing back the Daytona 500 one week would backfire and it did. Was it really worth it to avoid going against the Superbowl? Monday looks bad too It might have to be run on Tuesday...

...and the 500 is run in the afternoon and the Superbowl  in the evening. The only thing the 500 would`ve competed against would have been the  Superbowl hype programs all afternoon that they actually think people tune into.  Latest is they`re considering a Monday night race...rain forcast at noon is 95% , deminishing as the day goes on to 20% by evening.
